My love of action movies rivals my adoration of romantic comedies…
Give me a dashing hero, a brilliant heroine, several explosions, a half dozen twists and turns and I’m a very happy woman. Luckily there are several movies/series filling the streaming services. Since I’m not one to gatekeep treasures, I’ve curated a list of my favorites and included links so you can check them out. If you’ve got any favorites, please share because I can never have too many waiting in the queue.
The trifecta that’s given me hours of escape includes, REACHER, JACK RYAN, and CITADEL. All three are sitting at the top of my list right now and I have to admit that Amazon has hit it out of the park. If you’re not a Prime member, here is a link for a Free Prime Trial.
Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan (also known simply as Jack Ryan) is an American political action thriller series, based on characters from the fictional “Ryanverse“ created by Tom Clancy, There are four seasons and each one is better than the last. I rewatched all three before the fourth season was released and they all stood up the second time around. All the actors are exceptional and the pacing is fast enough to keep you up into the wee hours. GRAB A SNEAK PEAK HERE.
Citadel is an American spy action thriller starring Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas as Citadel agents Mason Kane and Nadia Sinh, respectively, with Stanley Tucci and Lesley Manville among the main cast. It had a production budget of $300 million and the six-episode first season ranks as one of the most expensive television shows ever produced. And its easy to appreciate how well that money was spent. I was glued to my screen from the first episode and didn’t know where the next twist and turn would take me. It’s renewed for a second season, so we’ll eventually get our answer to the cliff hangar the first season left us with. PREVIEW HERE
When retired Military Police Officer Jack Reacher is arrested for a murder he did not commit, he finds himself in the middle of a deadly conspiracy full of dirty cops, shady businessmen and scheming politicians. With nothing but his wits, he must figure out what is happening in Margrave, Georgia. The first season of Reacher is based on the international bestseller, The Killing Floor by Lee Child and it had me addicted within minutes. The story is complex and built beautifully with a lead actor that is easy to look at. Only one season is available now, but the second should drop sometime in the fall. CHECK IT OUT HERE
